If that’s the Haus you know and love,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], get psyched for August when J/J by Julie Haus teams up with Anthropologie.
While the line boasts the sweet feminine separates we’ve come to expect from Haus – breezy silk tops with zipper detailing and adorable pleat-front shorts – this collection’s got a bit of edge. Prints are bold,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], graphic and even psychadellic. Dresses are slouchy and painstakingly draped and pleated. Blazers are embellished with grommets and sprockets.
Taking into account Haus’s spaced out prints and quirky hardware embellishments,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it makes sense that the pint-sized Texas-native was inspired by old Sci-Fi flicks like Logan’s Run and Fantastic Voyage. “This really comes from more of a graphic melodramatic point of view,” says Haus, who let on that the hardware on her blazers are meant to resemble rocket pieces.
“This is the first collection where we’re trying to focus on special pieces,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],” says Haus, which explains the high level of attention to detail. Exposed zippers are done in multicolor to match a print,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], every piece has zig-zag stitching, and loose draped dresses come with crocheted belts that can double as necklaces or doubled up as bracelets. One cocktail dress – a silver bubble-hemmed frock cut on the bias with a diagonal zipper – is so special that each one is cut and sewn by hand in the back of Haus’s showroom.
