The controversy seems a little over the top at times, having said that, the film does feature some quite gory scenes (people having limbs chopped off however, it’s gore in the comic book style, and is nothing to what is featured in the comic itself; in fact, as the comic proudly boasts on some versions of its cover, “sickening violence: just the way you like it.” This is meant to be taken somewhat tongue-in-cheek and, at times, this film is almost Tarantino-esque in its portrayals of violence. If that kind of thing offends you, then this film probably isn’t for you.
