Director M. Night Shyamalan has not had a successful movie since <span style="font-style: italic">The Sixth Sense</span> back in 1999, and <span style="font-style: italic">The Last Airbender</span> was to be the first film not of his own creation. <br /><span style="font-style: italic">The Last Airbender</span> <a href="http://www.sneakersoutletonline.com/nike-air-max/nike-air-max-2011" target="_blank" class="postlink">Nike AirMax 2011</a>, like most fiction franchises, encountered the running time versus heavy content conflict when it crossed into a film adaptation. The first season of <span style="font-style: italic">Avatar: The Last Airbender</span> consisted of 20 half-hour episodes, so Shyamalan had to somehow condense ten hours worth of important story content into a 103 minute movie or else produce a three-hour time glutton. <br />Read on <br />The Last Airbender Depicts Strong Teen Girl and Women Characters <br />M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender <br />The movie begins with a carbon copy of the TV show&rsquo;s title sequence and identifies itself as “Book One: Water” just as every episode of the first season did. While this introductory style may be kosher for a cartoon series, when applied to a feature-length film, it gives the audience the impression of cockiness, a movie franchise so confident that it will be successful that it already knows there will be demand for more of it. <br />The movie is based on the first season of <span style="font-style: italic">Avatar: The Last Airbender</span> (for a series synopsis please go to <span style="font-style: italic">Avatar: The Last Airbender </span>Revisted) and, from the film&rsquo;s very opening <a href="http://www.sneakersoutletonline.com/nike-free" target="_blank" class="postlink">Nike Free Shoes</a>, it makes absolutely no bones of its intention of making sequels out of the rest of the series. <br />The best way to describe <span style="font-style: italic">The Last Airbender</span> is a train wreck, because like a train wreck it is a disaster but one so huge that you cannot help but just stare at it. The movie can be watched as a how-to manual of amateurish and incoherent movie making. The fact that a professional team of film makers created such cinematic swill is nothing short of embarrassing. <br />Analysis <br />However, in order to avoid becoming another <span style="font-style: italic">Lord of the Rings, </span>the film instead becomes another <span style="font-style: italic">Dragonball Evolution</span>, having so much material to cover in such a limited time frame that it pushes story structure and characterization under the bus. Constantly <a href="http://www.sneakersoutletonline.com/nike-air-jordan/jordan-7" target="_blank" class="postlink">jordan 7 retro</a>, <span style="font-style: italic">The Last Airbender</span> overuses narration and abuses dialogue to omit scenes, and save time, telling but not showing audiences what just transpired. All of this results in pacing that feels rushed and a plot that detaches viewers from the fictional world shown rather than immersing them in it. <span style="font-style: italic">The Last Airbender</span> is in a hurry to go somewhere but ends up going nowhere. <br />Furthermore, <span style="font-style: italic">Avatar: The Last Airbender </span>only concluded a couple years ago, so a live-action film of it feels unwarranted.
