Our hero now needs to constantly improve his game if he wishes to maintain his position. <br />Sixteen-year-old Kenichi don't get no respect. Constantly picked on at school, he finally sees a way out of his dilemma when he meets up with a mysterious girl named Miu Furinji. She takes him to a dojo called Ryozanpaku, where Kenichi learns to defend himself. When Kenichi defeats one of the school bullies, he thinks his troubles are over . . . when they're just beginning. <br />Want to see some butt-kicking martial arts? Better look elsewhere: nearly all of the fights are presented as camera scans across static images, which takes away most of the fun of watching a martial arts anime. The art and characters are nicely rendered, however the movements aren't as smooth as in other anime. That could explain why the filmmakers didn't get more inventive when working the fight sequences. Oh, and while we're at it, the cast of thousands in this series can get intimidating for newcomers. <br />This anime is geared more for the comedy/romance fans than the action aficionados which &ndash; combined with the bland premise &ndash; hurts this anime in its intended mission. That said, the comedy is nicely done with the English cast getting some great licks in. That's why Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple gets a 3/5. <br />Based on the manga by Syun Matsuena, the series is stuffed with fights, romance, comedy . . . plus heinous amounts of boobage. Just to make it even more blatant <a href="http://www.putkicks.com/air-jordan-alpha-1" target="_blank" class="postlink">Air Jordans Alpha 1</a>, one of the girls is nicknamed "Big Boobs" by her rival/friend. <br />You got your textless songs and your trailers. After that . . . <br />The English dub cast has a fine sense of the ridiculousness of this anime, and they not only push the envelope with this series, but fold, spindle, mutilate it and then pass it to their pet hamster. Possibly the biggest laugh came from a character's line: "If you join the Shinpaku Alliance <a href="http://www.putkicks.com/jordan-flight-45" target="_blank" class="postlink">Jordan Flights 45</a>, we will give you . . . this kitten <a href="http://www.putkicks.com/jordan-flight-45" target="_blank" class="postlink">Jordan Flight 45</a>!"</span></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" height="1" class="spaceRow"><img src="http://picsrv.fora.pl/Aniseed/images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="1" height="1" /></td> </tr> </table>
