As the child grows older, autism generally changes in symptoms as well as lessen. There are also different types of autism, namely: Autistic Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder Asperger’s Disorder and Retts Disorder. Retts disorder is very similar to autism yet it only presents in girls.
Special needs schools are often necessary as ordinary schooling simply does not have the resources or the experience to provide the autistic child with the attention and care that he needs and deserves. Treating autism comes in the forms of therapy. Professional psychiatrists and occupational therapists will work to develop speech, social and other skills that the child may have difficulty developing.
