Years of dogmatic thinking can be swept away by one well-conducted study. Conversely, extensive research may leave seemingly simple questions unanswered. In spite of two decades of scientifically rigorous investigation, controversy still surrounds the use of antioxidants in conjunction with cancer treatments. <br />In <span style="font-style: italic">Cancer Treatment Reviews</span>, investigators evaluated 845 studies from five scientific databases. If treatment can be completed, survival is improved. <br />Widely disparate views among experts about the use of antioxidants during cancer therapy are perplexing to patients. Simply put, chemotherapy and radiation are designed to inflict damage on tumor cells.
