But Thali gives diners the opportunity to discover such vegetarian gems such as palak paneer, a tasty marriage of cheese and spinach. Or chana masala, well-cooked chick peas infused with curry flavor. When one thinks Indian food, cauliflower may not come directly to mind but the aloo goobi at Thali is great. It is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. It’s not a bad idea to top off the meal with one of their samosas, some of the best in the city. Of course, each dish comes covered in its own sauce, perfect for Naan bread dipping.

Resembling what one would expect prison plates to look like, the food is served on compartmentalized metal platters. And much like prison, customers wait patiently in line to order their food and then shimmy over a few feet to select what they want. There are no servers.
